Land of the Monks

Ideal for KS2, this fun and interactive trail gives children the opportunity to explore the medieval history of the Abbey while learning about how as well as the geography of the location by learning how the monastery was used by medieval monks.

Using a map to navigate around the Cathedral grounds, learning how to locate points and physical features.  

This activity also allows children to develop enquiry skills which can be used in any local history or geography setting.

Grid References in the Cathedral

In this trail we use grid references to locate places on ordance survey maps as well as using 4 figure references to locate places within the Cathedral on an especially constructed plan of the church.  The children are tasked to find interesting facts at each location.
