Resuming public worship at the Cathedral after Covid-19 closure

We are very pleased that public worship commenced on Monday 6 July. Initially these will be the service times below. Please see below our risk assessment for the resumption of public worship at St Albans Cathedral.

Church will look and feel a bit different as we ensure the safety of everyone. Please arrive early as it may take a little longer than usual to seat everyone in socially-distanced contact groups.

We will continue to live stream our Sunday 10am Eucharist service on our YouTube channel for the time being. For more information, visit our live streaming page.


Service Schedule

Our usual schedule of services is listed below. All are welcome to attend these services, which are free to enter. Occasionally, service times may change, so if you would like to double check service times prior to your visit, please email or call us on 01727 890210.

Sunday Services

8am Eucharist in the Crossing (initially modern language) | Entry via the Welcome Centre

10am Eucharist in the Nave (modern language)** | Entry via the Welcome Centre and West End Doors

6pm Evensong in the Crossing | Entry via the Welcome Centre

** All age worship: From Sunday 19 July, running every week until Sunday 23 August, the 10am Eucharist will be livestreamed onto a screen in the Alban Room. A little pack will be provided for each child including a simple toy, a snack and colouring activities/sheets/craft that families can do together. Each family will be seated at a designated family table with social distancing taken into account.

We can fit a maximum of eight families in the Alban room, if you plan to come please email the youth chaplain directly at [email protected] stating your name and the names and ages of your children – you will then receive a registration sheet detailing further information.
