Tom Winpenny, the Assistant Master of the Music, and Calum Zuckert, Youth Chaplain, join forces to present a programme of Messiaen’s most important music and explore his spiritual life behind it. With over 60 years as the organist of La Trinité church in Paris, Messiaen’s music demonstrates influences as diverse as bird song, Eastern music, serial composition techniques, and plainsong. Tom has previously recorded five volumes of Messiaen for Naxos, the worlds leading classical music label, and will be performing a selection of his organ works, whilst the Revd Calum will trace some of Messiaen's musical and spiritual development, delving inside his life of faith as a devout Roman Catholic.
