On Monday the College of Canons of St Albans Cathedral met for Evensong followed by the Election of the 11^th Bishop of St Albans. 

This was a significant step in the process of Bishop Andrew Rumsey becoming our Bishop. The election was led by the Dean and supported by the Diocesan Registrar as the Proctor of the election and the Chapter Clerk, Alan Hartwell, as clerk to the election. 

The Canons were unanimous in electing the Rt Revd Andrew Rumsey, currently Bishop of Ramsbury in the Diocese of Salisbury, to be our new Diocesan Bishop. The next step in Bishop Andrew’s journey to St Albans is that the Archbishop of Canterbury will confirm this election, which will take place in June.
