St Albans Cathedral has plenty of activities, free events and interactive experiences throughout this historic attraction to keep all our younger visitors entertained.

Admission to the Cathedral, Welcome Centre and our exhibition area is free of charge.

Cathedral Activities

We have a variety of family-friendly explorer trails available from the Cathedral Shop, including our Young Explorer's Guide which takes you on an adventure trail around the Cathedral. 

Families can also explore the grounds of the Cathedral with our Tree Trail. Discover the history of some of the city's most ancient trees and find out all about their uses and symbolism. The Tree Trail and Young Explorer's Guide are available daily from the Cathedral Shop for £2.

Children can create a masterpiece with our free brass rubbing or become medieval pilgrims or warriors in our dressing up space in the exhibition area. Don't miss the interactive displays in the South Transept as well. 

We also offer a free digital tour of the Cathedral which you can access straight from your phone. Suitable for families. Visit here to access the guide.

Facilities

Baby changing facilities are located on the ground-floor level of the Welcome Centre. 

The Cathedral has easy access for buggies, visit our access page to view step-free entrances and stair-lift points.
