Come on this tour to explore how the natural world has been depicted in stone, wood, glass, brass and textile in the Cathedral over the centuries. Marvel at the sheer variety of plants, birds, insects and mammals that are not only decorative but also carry symbolic meaning. See the plants that may have grown on the hillside at the time of Alban’s martyrdom, learn why orchids and tomatoes feature amongst the stone carvings in the Lady Chapel and hunt down a hamster, a hedgehog and woodpeckers hidden amongst the furnishings.
